ISBB2008 †

16th Internationla Symposium on Boron, Borides and Related Materials will be held on September 7-12, 2008 in Matsue, Shimane, shouth western part of Japan. Scientific Program will integrate both basic and applied interdisciplinary resaerch that is centered on Boron, Boride and Related Materials.

Scope †

International Symposium on Boron, Borides and Related Materials (ISBB) began at Asbury Park, New Jersey in 1959. Almost half century passed from the first symposium ISBB will reach 16th Symposium which will be held in beautiful town Matsue, Japan in 2008. 16th Symposium will be devoted to recent progress on physical and chemical properties and practical applications of exotic boron and related materials. We hope to meet you in Matsue with ancient Japanese atmosphere and a feudal castle.

Scientific Program †

The Symposium will integrate both basic and applied interdisciplinary research that is centered on Boron, Borides and Related Materials. Oral and poster contributions are invited in the following areas:

Preparation of New Materials (single crystals, thin films, nanopowders, ceramics, coatings, glasses, composites, biopolymers etc.) in normal and extreme conditions (super-high pressure, ultracentrifuging, microgravity).
Crystal Structure and Chemical Bonding (nonstoichiometry, defects, clusters, quantum-chemical calculations).
Physical and Chemical Properties (band structure, phonon spectra, superconductivity, optical, electrical, magnetic, emissive, mechanical properties, phase diagrams, thermodynamics, catalytic activity etc.) in a wide range of temperature and pressure.
Applications and Prospects (memory elements, thermoelectric converters, composites, ceramics, coatings, biomedicine etc.)

English will be the Symposium language.
